The Elmhurst-Roaring Brook Volunteer Fire Department proudly
protects 2800 residents living in an area of 30 square miles in the townships of Elmhurst and Roaring Brook. We operate out of 2 stations that protect a primarily residential area, intersected by two interstate highways.
WE ARE CELEBRATING OUR 63rd ANNIVERSARY IN 2010!
Thirty-five active members are involved in company operations. We responded to 162 incidents in 2009. WE ARE VERY PROUD OF THE 13 MEMBERS OF OUR DEPARTMENT WHO HAVE BECOME "NATIONAL PRO-BOARD CERTIFIED" IN HAZMAT OPERATIONS! These members serve on the Lackawanna County Mass and Technical Decon Teams, part of an 8 county Regional Task Force. We currently have SEVEN certified EMS FIRST RESPONDERS and SEVEN EMT's, All members are CPR certified and most have Vehicle Rescue certifications and Essentials or FFI certifications. There is also a team of members certified in Confined Space Operations.
At Motor Vehicle Accidents we provide FIRE AND RESCUE services. BLS ambulance coverage and Rescue support is provided through Mutual Aid with Station 7 in neighboring Moscow Borough.
LIME YELLOW IS OUR FAVORITE COLOR!
In-house training sessions are held every Tuesday evening for two and a half hours. Our 'in house' training continues to focus on firefighting techniques and MVA Rescue procedures. We are constantly seeking State Level training courses and additional seminars to improve our skills and increase our knowledge.
We work with the other members of the North Pocono Mutual Aid Association to present fire safety sessions at every school, day care center, and nursing home in our communities. We work aggressively with our local long term care facilities, schools and group homes to maintain a high awareness of workplace fire safety. We are also available to speak with any interested community organization. The Elmhurst-Roaring Brook Volunteer Fire Department is all about neighbors helping neighbors. "GLADLY WE GO WHERE DUTY CALLS"
